Author Notes

I bought a 1980 Williams pinball machine "Black Knight" about 10 years ago. It was not working very well but I had a pinball desire since I started playing them at the local shops when I was about ten years old.

Last Christmas holidays I finally found the time, good technical reference on the WWW and fully restored this machine to a near new condition.  Only burnt my finger twice (soldering iron) and got less than a dozen cuts. I'm pleased to say that despite the demise of Williams, pinball will live a long time around here with my kids and all their friends now addicted to the silver ball.

Following an injury and being quite immobilised I discovered Visual Pinball on the net. I have had some experience with VB programming and computer graphics so this seemed a more productive way to spend my computer time than just playing Quake III Arena. Besides, I have a full size blue print only some 5 feet from my computer desk (ideal for a limping fool with too much free time).

The graphics were mostly taken from high quality scans of the original Williams brochure that I found on the net.
I have spent considerable time cleaning up surfaces and building both an upper and lower playfield image map. There are copies on my web site which show these maps with the blue print created from VP.

I would naturally appreciate any feedback regarding any released version. I built this on my PIII 500 but have seen that it as almost unplayable on slower machines. I would like to know if when running on other peoples machines that all the timings are satisfactory.
